KUTNIA

Kutnia

The ancient city of Gaziantep, home to KUTNIA, for centuries was an important trading hub on the Silk Road. There, as early as in the 16th century, was born kutnu, a semi-silk fabric with colourful silk warps and cotton wefts, which was used to produce clothes and home textile for the Ottoman nobility. With a vision to bridge the past and present through careful research and study of historical manufacturing tradition of Gaziantep, KUTNIA’s journey started in 2017. Jülide Konukoğlu, the visionary founder of the brand, made it her goal to preserve and protect the ancient craft of kutnu weaving – while adapting this precious fabric for everyday use.
